The Dam West Development (located just 2 miles from the Cherry Creek Reservoir & State Park at South Peoria Street & East Yale Avenue) was built by Writer Corporation in the 1960’ and 70’s. It was one of the Denver area’s earliest communities and historically designated the first Planned Unit Development in Arapahoe County. In 1976, The Dam West won the national award from the Urban Land Institute as one of three outstanding communities in the United States in which to live.
